Dearest members,
We are thrilled to announce that the Career Day is fast approaching and will take place in the afternoon on the 25th of April! During the Career Day, speakers from various fields and career stages will share insights into their work and the journey that brought them there. After the presentations, there will be a panel session, giving you the chance to ask any burning questions and gain valuable career advice. To end off the day, we will move to the weekly borrel for some drinks and networking oppertunities.
The day will start at 12:30 with some presentations from speakers from different companies. Some of these speakers will be old CBoard members Didi Ubels, who works on policy for the government, and Mitchell Groen, who works for Friesland Campina.
At 16:15, there will be a panel session where you can ask all your burning questions to the speakers of the day.
To end the day, at 16:45, there will be a borrel to get some drinks and snacks and of course the oppurtunity to expand your network a bit.
Attending the career day also gains you a point for the "Industrial Visits and Professional Skills" (Engineering) or "Career Skills" (Chemistry) course, points for this course count as extra credit on your diploma, for more information you can contact the study advisor or the board of De Chemische Binding.
We hope to see you all there!

For a little taste of the day already, here is bit of how Mitchell Groen ended up at Friesland Campina:
Mitchell Groen started his studies back in 2016 at the University of Groningen, where he completed both Chemistry and Chemical Engineering bachelor’s degrees by 2020. During that time, he was also actively involved in a bunch of extracurricular activities.
He decided to stick around in Groningen for his master’s in chemical engineering, choosing the Green Chemistry track. For his thesis, he focused on epoxy resin curing using Raman spectroscopy, and later did his internship at a plastic recycling research centre, studying flocculation behaviour during the wastewater treatments.
After taking a short break after graduating, Mitchell joined FrieslandCampina as a Corporate Trainee Technology and Operations. A two-year programme, where he is now working on the production of Lactose in Veghel.
At the Career Day, Mitchell will share his personal experiences, discussing the choices he made during his studies and job hunting, and providing an inside look into what it's like to be working for a dairy corporate and what a traineeship entails.
